Happy September, neighbors!

The Indiana County Fair has wrapped up for another year, and the season is shifting into that cozy, golden part of the calendar. Farmers market mornings, live music evenings, and plenty of community gatherings fill the week.

Here is what I am watching across Indiana County this week.

Happening This Week

Indiana County Farmers' Market is back twice a week through the season, from 9 a.m. to noon.

It gathers at South 8th and Church Street, in the S&T Bank parking lot, with fresh produce, baked goods, meats, eggs, honey, flowers, and live music.

It runs Wednesday, September 9, and Saturday, September 12.

The Cowboy: Man vs. Beast brings a live rodeo show to the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on Friday, September 11, at 7:30 p.m.

It plays in the Ed Fry Arena, anda high-energy, family-friendly night out right here in Indiana.

For a meaningful local milestone, Derry Presbyterian Church marks its 150th anniversary with a special service on Sunday, September 13.

The service reflects the congregation's original 1896 services, anda lovely reminder of the deep roots so many of our communities have.

• Sally's Bazaar Indoor Vendor and Craft Show, Saturday, September 19, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at Indiana Mall,2334 Oakland Avenue.
• Fireside Ghost Tales, Wednesday, September 30, 6:30-9 p.m., at the Clark House on South Sixth Street, part of the America250PA Indiana County series.

Community News

The 163rd Indiana County Fair wrapped up on Saturday, September 5.

It capped a week of harness racing, tractor pulls, live music, IRMC Day, and the community programs that make it the summer's biggest gathering.

The fair has been part of Indiana County life since 1862, which is a pretty remarkable run.

IUP kicked off its 2026-27 academic year earlier this month.

At its September 3 board meeting, the IUP Council of Trustees was introduced to new faculty for the university's new College of Osteopathic Medicine, part of the university's push to strengthen rural medicine in the region.

Homer-Center elementary students return to classrooms on Thursday, September 10.
